What to Expect

We realize that it can be a little unnerving to step into a new thing, especially when you're not exactly sure about the details that matter to you. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about Benvenue to give you a picture of what things look like week to week and hopefully address issues important to you.

What will the worship service be like?

We believe that we don't need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We believe that Jesus is enough! But here is what you can expect during a typical worship service:

  • Singing - Our congregational singing strives to be glorifying to God no matter what. Typically, it consists of the great hymns of our faith, but we also sing newer songs. As we sing, the focus is not on us or those around us; our focus is Jesus! So no matter what kind of voice you have, you can sing out with all your heart!

  • Prayer - One of the greatest privileges we have as followers of Jesus is being able to pray with boldness and confidence. We will pray together throughout our time together. If you would like for someone to pray for you, our pastor or anyone on our prayer team would be honored to pray with you during our response time.

  • Giving - If you're new to Benvenue, please do not feel obligated to give anything financially. If you do feel led to give, you can do so during the service or here on our website.

  • Preaching - We believe the Bible is God's Word. Each week, our pastor will bring a message from God's Word in a way that is helpful and challenging. If you do not have a Bible with you when you come, we have Bibles available. If you don't own a Bible, let us know because we would like to give you one!

What kind of people make up Benvenue?

The people who make up Benvenue are a group of broken people who need God's grace. We are all seeking to know and love God, live in community with others and transform the world by serving our city as we think Jesus would. Our members are made up of different ethnicities, backgrounds, and ages. Everyone is welcome!

What about my kids?

We believe that children are a blessing from God and are a vital part of every local church. We do offer a nursery and children's church for younger children. However, we understand that it's tough to leave your children with someone new. If you choose to allow us to take care of your kids during the worship service, we want you to know that our volunteers go through a screening process including a background check. If you would prefer for your child to stay with you, that is perfectly okay. We understand that having kids in worship with us brings some extra "kid noise" with it, and we like it that way. We desire to have families with kids of all ages worshiping together with us!

What if I'm not used to going to church?

That is not a problem at all! We want Benvenue to be a place where you can learn, apply, and wrestle with who God is and what he wants for you. It's okay if you don't have it all figure out yet.

What should I wear?

You're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. You can wear jeans and a t-shirt or a suit and tie. There is no set dress code. Just be you.
